Can you avoid scars / scarring from breast implants?

I've noticed that a lot of women get awful scars from breast implants.  The scarring is sometimes around the nipple, under the armpit, or under the boobs.  These scars are so awful and I was wondering if there's a way to avoid it?

It's not "can you avoid scarring", it's "how well can the plastic surgeon conceal it".  Scaring is inevitable because the surgeon is making an incision into your skin.  It's up to him / her to make sure that cut is in a place where people won't be able to notice it.  Also, it should be as minimal as possible.  But, there's no guarantee.  Just look at Christina Aguilera's breast implant scar.  She had an awful scar under her armpit, but with time that healed.

All that being said, if the surgeon does a good job then it will heal with time and proper treatment.  Be sure to find a well qualified plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.
