What can I do about severe acne at home? What can doctors do?

What is the least invasive treatment for severe acne?  What if that doesn’t work?  Do they have plastic surgery treatments for acne?  Or just the chemical peel kind of thing?  What options do I have? I’m in my 20’s and I think it’s past the hormone stage. Does any one know of home treatments that have actually worked?

Acne is treatable and there are many things you can do to eliminate it.  If it is really bad perhaps you should see a dermatologist who can give you prescription strength medications. I would try both benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, which are both easily available over the counter in many products. Or try Proactive.  Make sure to change your pillowcase often and use a clean towel every time you wash then dry your face, try using a paper towel instead. Many acne medications can bleach your linens so keep that in mind.  Keep your hands off your face and do not pick. Good Luck!
